4. Jul 08,  · Bathory was an extreme metal band from Vällingby, Sweden founded on 16th March , and named after the serial killer Countess Báthory from the Hungarian noble family. Fronted by Quorthon with a string of session players in the s who usually only lasted one album.

5. This was the Bathory album that you could foresee the coming of Viking metal in the future. The intro and then A FINE DAY TO DIE give the listener a preview of what Viking metal is, along FOR ALL THOSE WHO DIED and with the title track at the end.4/5().

6. Bathory! Around a year prior to forming the band, Tomas had spent some time in London with a friend. Given his attraction to all things dark and mysterious, it’s unsurprising that he visited a horror themed wax museum during this trip. There was one particular display that caught his eye, for more than one reason it has to be said.
